At Driven Auto Works, every service starts with the right preparation and attention to detail. Whether it’s professional auto detailing, ceramic coatings, paint protection film, vinyl wraps, or window tinting, each process requires different technical skills. Let’s take a closer look at what goes into each of our services.
The Process Behind Auto Detailing and Ceramic Coatings
At Driven Auto Works, our detailing process starts with looking over the vehicle to see what needs to be done. We break it down into the interior and exterior of the vehicle. To start, for our Interior Detailing, we focus on cleaning the seats, carpets, dashboard, and all other plastics and leather that may have collected dust and dirt over time. For our Exterior Detailing, we start with a full wash to remove dirt and buildup from the paint, once this process is done, we add a ceramic sealant to protect the vehicle’s paint temporarily.
For vehicles with scratches and swirl marks, we also offer Paint Corrections. The severity and condition of the paint dictate how long this process may take. To execute a paint correction, there are 2 different polishers, and for extreme cases, we may wet sand the clearcoat, the 2 polishers are either a DA orbital polisher or a Rotary polisher. These methods are used to remove or reduce the imperfections in the paint and bring back its original shine.
Another service we offer is Ceramic Coatings. This is the best bang for your buck to protect a vehicle without paying PPF (paint protection film) money. Before applying a coating, there is a detailed checklist to cover, the vehicle needs to be properly washed and the paint prepared. Once everything is ready, we apply the ceramic coating to the paint. This creates a chemical bond to the paint, which makes a protective layer that helps repel water, dirt, and other contaminants. This also makes washing the car very easy and keeps the paint in prime condition longer.
How Paint Protection Film, Vinyl Wraps and Window Tint Are Installed
Along with detailing, we also offer services to help protect and customize your vehicle. These services are paint protection film (PPF), vinyl wraps, and window tinting. All three services require a lot of preparation to make sure the final result looks perfect for the customer.
Paint Protection Film, or PPF, starts with cleaning the exterior of the vehicle using products like iron remover and a clay bar to remove contaminants stuck in the paint before laying the film. When the surface is cleaned properly, we position the film onto the vehicle using a soapy water solution and a squeegee to remove trapped water and air. PPF helps protect the vehicle’s paint from rock chips, scratches, and everyday driving. To put it into simple terms, it’s basically a way to keep the paint under the film in perfect shape while any wear will only affect the film only and can have a ceramic coating installed on the film too.
Vinyl Wraps have a similar preparation process, but the installation is a little different. Instead of using soapy water, the vinyl is applied dry. We use heat to stretch and shape the film around different parts of the vehicle. This allows us to change the color or appearance of a car without having to repaint it.
Window Tinting starts with a thorough cleaning of the windows to make sure no dust is left behind, after we cut the film to fit each piece of glass. In certain cases we use a plotter to precut the film to the correct size before spraying soapy water. Once the tint is positioned, we use a squeegee to remove excess water and air trapped. Window tint helps reduce heat and glare while giving your vehicle a better sleaker look.
Once everything is installed, we go over the vehicle one last time to check the edges, film and overall finish to make sure everything is perfect for the customer!
